At the lower end of the market most hotels in St Helier would make Fawlty Towers look good. However, there are some that have made an effort to move with the times and provide a good level of service and a 'flock wallpaper' free ambience.
Our recommended hotels in St Helier are:
CLUB HOTEL & SPA:
Located very close to the centre of town- opposite a car park- small but pleasant spa with indoor and outdoor pools and a first class Michelin star restaurant. Free car parking.
HOTEL DE FRANCE:
Well established grand style hotel just outside of town. Best hotel spa in Jersey. Saffrons restaurant is one of the best Modern Indian restaurants you will ever eat in.
Winner of the the 2008 Carbuncle Cup for the ugliest building in Britain. However, good location for the marina view. Plenty of car parking, 10 minute stroll to the centre of town. Popular with business visitors. The reception and bar area is well designed- in a corporate chain style- though staff are often missing. Decent breakfast. Get a room with a Marina view rather than the rooms overlooking the car parks.
ROYAL YACHT HOTEL:
Super central town location, right by taxi rank and 100 meters to bus station. Cafe, nightclub and a decent steak grill bar. Nice spa, gym and indoor pool. Perfect for nightlife lovers. The restaurant is a cut above the usual hotel 'in house restaurant' standard.
Fun bar with regular jazz band, well managed, friendly staff and a good restaurant.
